01

What is his professional background?

He worked in enterprise software in Germany, led SAP consulting teams, co-founded an SAP consultancy, and now works on AI governance in Canada.

  • He worked for BMW Group as an employee before joining SAP. BMW later became a client, during his years at SAP and at Meta-1.
  • At SAP Germany he was a product lifecycle management (PLM) consultant on projects for BMW and Volvo Aero.
  • At SAP Markets he headed a consulting department and was responsible for one of SAP's five strategic business-to-business cloud applications.
  • He co-founded and led Meta-1, a 30-person SAP consultancy. Its clients included BMW Group, Tetra Pak, SCA and Mölnlycke Health Care.
  • At Mettler-Toledo he worked in programme management in a global SAP programme and led the pilot implementation.
  • After independent consulting, he moved into AI and data work in Canada, building machine-learning and generative AI systems.
  • His work has taken him across Europe, North America and Asia.
02

What does he do at Valment?

He leads Valment's three services: Process & AI Mapping, Integrated AI Governance, and Independent Assessment & Auditing.

He designs and applies a process-focused approach to AI governance, built on Valment's organizational meta-model. The model connects business objectives, processes, owners, applications, data, AI systems, risks and controls. It supports finding AI opportunities, designing governance and checking that controls work. He does not audit what he has designed: where a client needs both, the assessment is arranged so that independence is kept.

03

What are his credentials?

He holds PECB credentials in AI management (ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer and the Certified Artificial Intelligence Manager) and Provisional Auditor grades for ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001, plus credentials in enterprise architecture, project management, governance and risk, and data and AI engineering.

AI governance and management systems (PECB)

  • PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer
  • PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Manager (CAIM)
  • PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
  • PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Provisional Auditor
  • PECB Certified ISO 9001 Provisional Auditor

Governance, risk and delivery

  • OCEG GRC Professional (GRCP)
  • OCEG GRC Auditor (GRCA)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute

Enterprise architecture, data and AI engineering

  • TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation, The Open Group
  • SAP LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Consultant

He also holds SAP, Databricks and IBM credentials in process, data and AI engineering.

Course, exam, grade, certification, approval: five different things.

A course attended, an exam passed, a provisional grade, a full certification, and approval to audit for a certification body are five different things. The grades above are the ones PECB has issued to him. The Provisional Auditor grade is the first grade PECB issues after the Lead Auditor exam; it does not need audit experience, and it is not the Auditor or Lead Auditor grade. He does not hold approval to audit for a certification body.

NIST AI RMF and the EU AI Act are frameworks he applies in his work. They are not credentials, and no certification exists for either.

04

What is his education?

He holds Master's degrees in Information Technology and in Business Administration (MBA) from Technische Universität Berlin.

05

Where is he based, and what languages does he work in?

He is based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He works in English and German with clients in North America and the DACH region.

How does he approach AI governance?

He treats AI governance as an enterprise architecture and management discipline, not a separate compliance exercise. Good governance starts from knowing where AI operates, which processes and data it affects, who is responsible, which risks arise and how controls are run and evidenced. His work applies ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001 together with enterprise architecture, process and technology experience, from design through implementation to independent assessment.

AI use

Valment uses AI systems in its own research and drafting, under the same governance it advises on. Published analysis is reviewed and approved by Reinhardt Muehlhaeusser before release.
